Falkensteen buelade

After the devastating storm Bodil in 2013, half of this unique archway collapsed, leaving the roof structure and timberwork in the facades completely damaged. Bjørns Træværk og Restaurering was hired by Kopp Sorø to be in charge of lacing and re-establishment of new roof construction and chairworks. The construction was made as a copy of the originals after careful measurements. The rafters, burrs and switches were constructed using three planks, which were welded together with staggered joints and pins in the end joints. The three layers were subsequently assembled with long hand-forged nails, which were weighed on the back. As a result of the curved construction, everything was laced up one by one.
