On Otte Busses Vej in Copenhagen's Sydhavn are nine barns, which until 50 years ago functioned as storage warehouses for wood and material for the maintenance of train tracks. Since then, the barns have been empty and the area was almost forgotten until some people realised the potential of the area and the buildings. The intervening period, when the buildings stood empty and untouched, had taken a heavy toll on them. With the help of foundations and a group of enthusiasts, a comprehensive restoration of the barns was initiated. We were hired to restore the old barns' timber and roof constructions. Today, they form the framework of a small green oasis in the middle of Copenhagen with a natural focus on sustainability and ecology, where everyone can feel welcome.
